Creative Economy Minister: Sporting Events Drive the Creative Economy

Jakarta, June 27, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the AEF/Mantena Cup Jakarta 2026 FEI CSI1 International Jumping Competition* and the Jakarta Governor's Cup: Equinara Pulomas Open 2026 at the Jakarta International Equestrian Park. The Minister emphasized that hosting international sporting events plays a strategic role in strengthening Indonesia's creative economy ecosystem.

"This championship is more than just a sporting competition. International events like this are an integral part of strengthening the creative industry ecosystem while generating broad economic benefits," Minister Riefky said in his remarks on Saturday.

The Minister noted that international equestrian competitions serve not only as a platform for athletic excellence but also as a catalyst for economic growth through the involvement of various creative economy subsectors. According to him, international sporting events are among the key drivers of Indonesia's creative industry development.

He explained that modern sporting events engage a wide range of creative economy subsectors, including event management, visual communication design, digital content production, photography, videography, broadcasting, fashion, culinary arts, crafts, and destination promotion. As such, international competitions create opportunities that extend far beyond sports by opening new economic prospects for creative professionals.

"The organization of a modern sporting event involves numerous creative subsectors, ranging from event management, visual communication design, digital content production, photography, videography, broadcasting, fashion, culinary arts, crafts, to tourism destination promotion. This championship is more than a sporting competition," he said.

Minister Riefky also expressed his appreciation for the international community's confidence in selecting Indonesia to host the AEF/Mantena Cup Jakarta 2026 for the first time. The championship is being held alongside the Jakarta Governor's Cup 2026 and the Masters Open Championship 2026.

"The hosting of this championship reflects the growing confidence and international recognition of Indonesia's capability to organize world-class equestrian competitions," he added.

Also attending the opening ceremony were Jakarta Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto; President of the Event Adinda Yuwanita; AEF Deputy Secretary General Ade Salim Khan; President of the Equestrian Federation of Pakistan Raja Zarar Sajjad; and AEF Board Member Chang Wando.
