“With the establishment of ATRAKSI, we now have an association that can collaborate with the government. Such collaboration allows us to share information about government programs with the dance community and ensure that this information is distributed quickly and effectively,” said Deputy Minister Irene in her remarks.
She also expressed her hope that ATRAKSI would serve as a bridge across regions and generations, strengthening the position of dance both nationally and globally. According to her, the association’s presence opens space for dialogue, collaboration, and greater empowerment for dance practitioners.

“I hope ATRAKSI will remain united and solid, regardless of genre, and continue to create together under one name: Indonesia,” Irene added.
ATRAKSI was officially launched in response to the growing need among dancers and choreographers for a professional and inclusive collaborative platform that can also serve as a space for advocacy and capacity building. This association aims to be a shared home for all stakeholders in the dance industry — from choreographers, studios, and communities to educational institutions — to work together in developing sustainable strategies for the dance sector.

ATRAKSI Chairperson Muhammad Reza explained that the association was born out of a shared concern to create a platform for dance artists, carrying the spirit of cross-generation and cross-genre collaboration.
“I imagine an Indonesia rich in dance traditions having one home that can accommodate and amplify its aspirations so that they are better heard,” said Reza.
