Deputy Minister for Creative Economy Irene Umar speaks at the discussion titled “The Ecosystem Blueprint: Building Creative Champions” during IP Expo 2026 at the Grand Ballroom Kempinski, Jakarta, Thursday (7/5/2026).

The Deputy Minister stated that IP Expo serves as a strategic platform for Indonesian creative industry players to build networks, expand collaborations, and connect local IPs with international IPs within a mutually supportive ecosystem.

“This kind of learning process is essential because international IPs seek to enter the Indonesian market, while Indonesian IPs also need to maintain their domestic market. However, this expo should also become a platform for Indonesian IPs to explore collaborations with foreign IPs in order to penetrate the global market,” she said on Thursday (7/5).

According to Irene, strengthening the creative economy requires an integrated blueprint capable of creating sustainable economic growth based on creativity and culture.

“We want to position the creative economy as a new engine of growth because, for too long, we have relied on non-renewable resources. Indonesia has beautiful natural resources and cultural diversity that can serve as those resources. Creativity has often been viewed merely as something artistic or simply a hobby, whereas the two must be integrated. That is what we aim to realize,” she explained.
