Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, facilitated the visit of international actor and filmmaker Sung Kang to explore Jakarta through a “Night Drive” activity in Jakarta, Monday (11/5/2026).
The activity formed part of the promotional series leading to Jakarta’s 500th anniversary while also expanding international exposure for Indonesia’s creative industry. Sung Kang’s visit also served as momentum to open collaboration opportunities between national creative economy players and global networks.
“In short, the creative economy acts as a matchmaking agency, because finding the right match can truly change lives for the better,” explained Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar while accompanying the visit in Jakarta on Monday night (11/5).
Irene Umar added that the involvement of global figures such as Sung Kang is expected to strengthen Jakarta’s position as an internationally relevant creative city while also opening broader collaboration opportunities for Indonesia’s creative industry players.
