Jakarta, February 15, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency Irene Umar expressed her appreciation for Jakarta Sneakers Day (JSD) as a platform that promotes local products to the international market. According to Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene, promotional platforms must be prepared to ensure local brands can compete with international labels.

“I am delighted to see so many local brands receiving support from JSD. This proves that our local brands have great potential to compete in the international market,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during her visit to the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), where JSD was held on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
JSD, a platform that has been around since 2016, focuses on sneaker culture and related subcultures. This year, JSD featured 109 booths, with 80 percent of them showcasing Indonesian local brands.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene hopes that the public will become more active in supporting the creative industry by attending events like JSD. She believes that increased awareness and support for local brands will help drive the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy.
“I hope that more people will attend events like this to learn about and support local creative entrepreneurs. This will provide them with greater growth opportunities,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.

Meanwhile, Co-Founder of Infia and Jakarta Sneakers Day, Andrey Noelfry, highlighted that the dominance of local brands at this year’s JSD reflects the significant development of Indonesia’s sneaker industry. Of the total 109 booths, 80 percent featured local products, making Indonesia one of the countries with the highest number of local sneaker brands in Southeast Asia.
“This year, the enthusiasm from local brands has been incredible. With a larger venue, many local brands wanted to participate, leading to an 80 percent proportion of local brands. Indonesia might be one of the countries with the most local sneaker brands in Southeast Asia,” said Andrey.

“Events like JSD prove that we can dominate the domestic market and even compete globally. We hope that the Ministry of Creative Economy can provide even more support, both in terms of audience reach and regional exposure,” he added.
During her visit to JSD, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene was accompanied by the Secretary of the Ministry/Principal Secretary Dessy Ruhati, Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy Yuke Sri Rahayu, and Director for Fashion at the Ministry of Creative Economy Romi Astuti. Their presence reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the growth of the fashion industry and the creative economy in Indonesia.
