Jakarta, August 5, 2025 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended the Closing and Sharing Session of the ASEAN–UK Cultural and Creative Hubs Grant Scheme held at the British Council Jakarta. Deputy Minister Irene stated that this program demonstrates the power of cross-cultural and cross-national collaboration in advancing the capacity of creative players, while encouraging the creation of local solutions with a global approach.

“The creative economy represents the future face of Indonesia—not only for its contribution to the GDP, but because it unites creativity, cultural values, and boundless innovation across sectors and nations,” said Deputy Minister Irene during the event held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
This event marked the conclusion of a series of cross-national training programs that brought together cultural communities and creative players from Southeast Asia and the United Kingdom. It also reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration in strengthening the creative economy ecosystem as part of the Golden Indonesia 2045 strategy. Deputy Minister Irene expressed hope that such training models could be replicated and followed up through concrete cooperation among communities, government institutions, and international partners.

Summer Xia, Country Director Indonesia and Lead for Southeast Asia, British Council, stated that this initiative is not merely about building inter-country networks but also represents a long-term investment in strengthening the competitiveness of local creators on the global stage.
“We believe creativity is a global force, and initiatives like this bring together cross-cultural potential to shape an inclusive future,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jonathan G.T. Tan, Head of Culture & Information Division, Sustainable Development Directorate, The ASEAN Secretariat, added that Indonesia’s active involvement in this program reflects its commitment to developing the regional creative economy. He expressed hope that this collaboration will evolve into sustainable programs that deliver tangible benefits at both national and regional levels.
Building on this momentum, the Ministry of Creative Economy reaffirmed the role of the creative economy sector as the new engine of growth—a driver of the future built on collaboration, capacity strengthening, and the potential of young generations to address global challenges toward Golden Indonesia 2045.
