Jakarta, May 31, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2025 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Since its inception in 2011, this annual event, organized by the Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI), has become one of the main showcases of the country’s fashion industry development.

Deputy Minister Irene Umar praised IFW as a promising incubation platform for young talents in the fashion industry. She emphasized the importance of active participation by local brand owners in such events to ensure their work reaches the public.
“There are many extraordinary works by creative economy players that have yet to be exposed. If they are not showcased, the public will never know the quality of these products. IFW is a strategic stage to present that potential,” said the Deputy Minister.

Carrying the theme Ronakultura Jakarta, IFW 2025 explores urban lifestyles blended with local cultural roots. The theme highlights Jakarta’s character as a dynamic, stylish, and sustainability-conscious metropolis.
Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity, Yuke Sri Rahayu, added that fashion is one of the three largest subsectors contributing to the creative economy, alongside culinary and crafts.
“IFW has become an important platform for designers from various regions to promote their works, both nationally and internationally,” said Yuke.

One of the participating brands was Cap Bali, known for its contemporary designs rooted in Indonesia’s cultural heritage. Cap Bali integrates traditional textiles such as endek, batik, and songket into modern designs, creating apparel that is both aesthetically appealing and culturally meaningful. The brand’s founder, Putu Fitri Ertaningsih, shared that this year’s collection was inspired by peacocks she often saw as a child, represented through bright colors and distinctive Balinese motifs.
