Jakarta, 30 January , 2026 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy / Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, attended the UI vs ITB Battle of the Bands: Queen The Colossal Live concert at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, on Friday (January 30, 2026). The presence of the Deputy Minister reflects the government’s support for strengthening the national music subsector through cross-campus collaboration and alumni networks.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended the UI vs ITB Battle of the Bands: Queen The Colossal Live concert at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, on Friday (January 30, 2026).
The concert was attended by two prominent Indonesian music figures, Candra Darusman, an alumnus of the University of Indonesia (UI), and Purwacaraka, an alumnus of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Presented with the symbolism of Yellow Jacket vs Ganesha, the event combined the spirit of healthy rivalry with friendship and cross-generational creativity.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Irene Umar emphasized that community- and alumni-based activities play a strategic role in building a sustainable creative economy ecosystem. According to her, synergy between musicians, communities, educational institutions, and the industry is a vital asset in producing competitive and high-quality creative works.
“The UI vs ITB Battle of the Bands demonstrates how creativity, networking, and collaboration can become a real force in strengthening the music subsector as part of the new engine of growth for Indonesia’s creative economy. When the best talents come together in a supportive space, works are born that not only entertain but also generate economic impact,” said Irene Umar.
