Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Attends WPP Stream 2025, Encourages the Development of the Creative Economy in Indonesia

Bali, May 27, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, was one of the main panelists at WPP Stream 2025, an interactive conference that brings together players from the creative and technology industries, including advertising, media, and digital technology companies from around the world. In this event, Deputy Minister Irene highlighted the vast potential of the creative economy to be explored for the welfare of society.

Vice Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar attended WPP Stream 2025 in Bali on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) to promote the development of the creative economy in Indonesia.

“The creative economy holds tremendous potential to enhance people’s welfare, promote cultural diversity, and serve as the new engine of growth for Indonesia’s economic development,” said Deputy Minister Irene during the event held at Hyatt Regency, Bali, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

WPP Stream 2025 serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to share knowledge and experiences in developing the creative economy. Its organizer, WPP, is a multinational advertising and communications company.

Deputy Minister Irene emphasized that the network provided by WPP can serve as a valuable space for creative actors to further develop their talents and creativity. This, in turn, she added, could raise public awareness of the importance of the creative economy in regional development while also encouraging the improvement of the quality of creative products and services.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Irene stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, industry, and society to build a creative economy that is inclusive and diverse. Such collaboration can strengthen the creative economy ecosystem, enhance Indonesia’s global competitiveness, and create quality job opportunities.

She also underlined the need to integrate technology and innovation into the creative economy to ensure greater competitiveness and sustainability in today’s digital era. Through cooperation with WPP, the Ministry of Creative Economy can reinforce Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem and elevate the advertising industry by leveraging the latest technology and innovations.

During the event, Deputy Minister Irene was accompanied by Deputy for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu. Also present were Chairperson of WPP for Indonesia and Vietnam Ranjana Singh, Prince of Pura Mangkunegaran Sri Paduka Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya Mangkoenagoro X, Global President of VML Mel Edwards, and CEO of Visinema Studios Herry Budiazhari Salim.
