Jakarta, August 4, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, encouraged Pagelaran Sabang Merauke The Indonesian Broadway, to be performed at Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebration. This grand collaboration involving 1,500 art practitioners will showcase the richness of Indonesian culture on August 23–24, 2025, at Indonesia Arena, Senayan.

“We must unite and move together because the Government always applies a hexahelix collaboration approach. This will be an extraordinary initiative and will be greatly appreciated by the Government, as it represents the unity from Sabang to Merauke,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar during the Musical Rehearsal Sabang Merauke Performance at Grand Ballroom Kempinski Indonesia on Monday, August 4, 2025.
“It’s not only about highlighting culture and orchestra but also the creative economy subsectors such as music, fashion, performing arts, and crafts through merchandising. This is Indonesia’s true richness and the spirit we must preserve,” said the Deputy Minister.
Her presence today followed up on a previous audience meeting with iForte on August 1, 2025. Carrying the grand theme “Hikayat Nusantara,” the Deputy Minister expressed that this would be a captivating art performance showcasing Indonesia’s cultural diversity from Sabang to Merauke, making it worthy of being featured in the celebration of Indonesia's 80th Anniversary of Independence.
“As this year marks a very special moment, the 80th year of independence, I hope that several artists performing in the Pagelaran Sabang Merauke can also perform live on one of the stages of the Independence Day celebration, so the whole nation can witness it on August 17. Especially since this year’s Independence theme is ‘United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.’ It is our duty to amplify Pagelaran Sabang Merauke as a source of national pride,” stated the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy.
Pagelaran Sabang Merauke The Indonesian Broadway will be presented in a colossal, grand, spectacular, modern, and entertaining format at Indonesia Arena, Senayan. Nusantara will be portrayed as a creative expression of art, emotion, and intellect that reflects the diversity and uniqueness of Indonesia’s regional cultures. The performance, initiated by iForte in collaboration with BCA, is scheduled to be held on August 23–24, 2025.
“Out of our love for Indonesia, Sabang Merauke Performance has been successfully held five times since 2022. The enthusiasm of the public, who deeply appreciate Indonesian culture, has motivated us to continue this performance on a larger scale with many notable figures who have created remarkable works. Sabang Merauke Performance 2025 will be even more vibrant, grand, colorful, and touching,” said Ferdinandus Aming Santoso, CEO & President Director of iForte and Protelindo Group.
Furthermore, the musical strength of Pagelaran Sabang Merauke will feature 60 musicians from Jakarta Concert Orchestra, 60 singers from Batavia Madrigal Singers (winner of the European Grand Prix), 32 singers from The Resonanz Children’s Choir (World Champion Children’s Choir), national singers including Yura Yunita and Padi Reborn, as well as 50 traditional musicians from various regions. A total of 31 songs and dozens of dances will be performed as symbols of unity and togetherness from all corners of the archipelago, the essence of Sabang Merauke.
“Pagelaran Sabang Merauke is a space for self-expression and collaboration among artists from various regions. It’s not just a musical show, it’s part of a cultural movement to reignite our love for Indonesia and preserve our heritage. I believe Pagelaran Sabang Merauke can become part of Indonesia’s cultural history, a stage where people can witness how rich, creative, and spectacular our country truly is,” said Yura Yunita, one of the performers.
Pagelaran Sabang Merauke serves as a reminder across generations of the noble values, social harmony, and cultural foundations that shape Indonesia into a strong and civilized nation. The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to supporting equitable development that strengthens independence for creative economy players across Indonesia.
Also attending the Musical Rehearsal Pagelaran Sabang Merauke were Vice President Director & Deputy CEO of iForte Silvi Liswanda; Director of Pagelaran Pagelaran Sabang Merauke Rusmedie Agus; Narrator Indra Bekti; Music Director Elwin Hendrijanto; Traditional Musician Dunung Basuki; Designers Ivan Gunawan and Chossy Lattu; and several singers, including Fadli Padi, Christine Tambunan, Mirabeth Sonia, Alsant Nababan, Gabriel Harvianto, Taufan Purbo, Sruti Respati, Roland Rogers, and Nino Prabowo.
