Jakarta, January 17, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, welcomed the founders of the local social media application, RTRW, at the Sapta Pesona Building on Friday, January 17, 2025. She was accompanied by Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital & Technology Creativity, and engaged in discussions and idea-sharing with the RTRW founding team.

RTRW is a homegrown social media platform established at the end of 2023. Its mission is to become a platform for Indonesians to share updates and information about their local communities. Currently, RTRW has around 50,000 users.
According to Muhammad Neil El Himam, the concept behind RTRW is unique and holds significant potential.
“There was once an app designed to report community incidents, but unfortunately, it didn't last. RTRW can serve as a valuable tool for neighborhood associations (RT and RW) to report incidents or submit complaints, especially since it is location-based. The next step is to develop a viable business model,” Neil explained.

Deputy Minister Irene Umar emphasized the importance of strategic planning to ensure RTRW’s sustainable growth.
“There is a huge opportunity for this app, and its growth needs to be carefully nurtured. I hope they continue to strive and build this platform into something bigger. To achieve that, RTRW must strengthen its infrastructure, expand its human resources, and implement effective marketing strategies. There’s a lot of potential for RTRW to grow, just like Facebook did,” said Irene.

The RTRW team welcomed the feedback and acknowledged the areas for improvement. Ridwan Siregar, one of RTRW’s Co-Founders, shared that while they remain optimistic, they recognize the need for further development.
“We received a lot of valuable input from Ms. Irene, and there are many areas we need to improve. Right now, our biggest asset is our optimism because we believe this app has great potential for Indonesians. Its hyperlocal focus will greatly benefit local communities,” Ridwan stated.
