Jakarta, March 1, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, officially inaugurated the Board Game Corner at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta. This Board Game Corner marks the first of its kind in Indonesia.

"We, from the Ministry of Creative Economy, are the first to establish a board game club. The creative economy is referred to as ‘the new engine of growth’ because, through play, we also generate economic value," stated Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during the inauguration on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
She emphasized that this event serves to introduce board games to a wider audience. The goal is to foster the growth of Indonesia’s board game industry and establish it as a successful example of the nation’s creative economy.

"Indonesia has produced many board games created by local talents. Hopefully, with the opening of this Board Game Corner, board games will become even more widespread," Irene added.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene also encouraged all Indonesians to support and develop the creative industry, which will help the country achieve its Indonesia Emas 2045 vision and become a major player on the international stage.

"The hope is simple—through playing games, Indonesia can move forward together towards Indonesia Emas 2045. Let’s embrace the spirit of play as we step into the international era," she remarked.
At the same event, Mahawira Singh Dillon, Chairman of the Indonesian Board Game Industry Association (APIBGI), expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Creative Economy for its support. He hopes that more people will be introduced to diverse, engaging, and educational board games, sparking greater interest and enthusiasm for the board game industry.

"We sincerely thank the Ministry of Creative Economy for its support. With the opportunity to play games at Grand Sahid, we hope to raise public awareness of the importance of the board game industry in Indonesia," said Mahawira.
Meanwhile, Venny Artha, General Manager of Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, highlighted that the Board Game Corner could enhance its visibility among young people. This initiative will help expand networks and build a stronger community around the board game industry.
