Jakarta, March 18, 2025 – Learning doesn’t always have to follow conventional methods. This spirit is what Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of Creative Economy Agency Irene Umar seeks to encourage, so students in Indonesia can enjoy a more comprehensive, digitally-driven learning experience.

This vision was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene and IOTA Kreatif Media, held at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta. She was accompanied by the Deputy for Digital and Creative Technology at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Muhammad Neil El Himam. One of the key topics was the innovation developed by IOTA in collaboration with Nyalanesia — Nyala Games, a digital learning platform integrated with the School Literacy Movement and the Merdeka Curriculum.
"Collaboration among industry players is essential to enrich digital learning experiences. We also need to consider expanding beyond educational games to reach broader audiences," said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during the meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Nyala Games aims to reach 300,000 students across Indonesia. Eka Chandra, Advisor at IOTA Kreatif Media, emphasized that Nyala Games is more than just a game — it is a tailored solution designed to support schools, teachers, and students.
Founded in 2014, IOTA Kreatif Media focuses on developing intellectual property (IP)-based products such as games, comics, animations, illustrations, mascots, and other creative concepts. This aligns with the Ministry’s mission to create job opportunities by engaging creative youth and helping them become competitive in the global market.

"Nyala Games enables teachers to create custom quizzes and organize inter-school competitions. We are currently in talks with several regional education offices for its implementation. The platform is mobile-based and runs on a monthly subscription model, which can be funded through the School Operational Assistance (BOS) program," said Eka.
In addition to its digital format, an offline version is also being developed to accommodate schools in remote areas with limited internet access.
"Our goal is not to replace teachers but to assist in creating more engaging learning methods. Teachers who develop high-quality questions will also receive compensation. The game has been in development since November, and we hope the Ministry can become a strategic partner in fostering cross-sector collaboration," Eka added.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is one of the newly established ministries under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Led by Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, the Ministry aims to create 27 million jobs within five years by empowering youth to generate high-quality employment in the creative industries.
Assisted by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, Minister Riefky is committed to exploring all 17 creative economy sub-sectors to realize the government’s mission — particularly the third pillar of Asta Cita, which emphasizes quality job creation, entrepreneurship development, creative industry growth, and continued infrastructure development. Through the strengthening of a hexahelix ecosystem, the Ministry of Creative Economy is positioned to become the new engine of growth for the national economy — beginning from the regional level.
