Jakarta, 1 March, 2026 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency Irene Umar, together with Step By Step ID, participated in a flash mob as part of the National Lunar New Year Festival series. Deputy Minister Irene expressed her belief that flash mobs are capable of integrating elements of choreography, music, and community engagement, thereby creating highly creative cross-subsector collaboration.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, alongside the Step By Step ID community, enlivened the National Lunar New Year Festival series by joining a flash mob during the Car Free Day (CFD) event at the Bundaran HI area, Jakarta, on Sunday (27/02/2026).
“The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency is committed to supporting the development of talents in the creative industry that combine street dance movements with musical elements, thereby fostering cross-sector collaborations that are more relevant and appealing to the younger generation,” said Deputy Minister Irene while participating in the flash mob during the Car Free Day (CFD) event at the Bundaran HI area, Jakarta, on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Minister Irene, creative activities in public spaces serve as a strategic step to introduce extraordinary talents and potential, enabling dance and music communities to continue growing. In this way, the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency can empower communities to showcase their presence and boundless creativity.
“Thank you to all parties involved in the process of creating creative works, including combining dance with popular music. We hope to see even more spontaneous creativity emerging through interactions in public spaces,” added Deputy Minister Irene.
Step By Step ID is a trio of content creators (Natya Shina, Rendy Pritz, and Naissa Deinara) who began producing content through their YouTube channel @StepbyStepID, which has grown to 2.15 million subscribers. They initially focused on dance tutorials and cover dance content, and were eventually entrusted to create an original work for the Imlek Festival 2026 theme song titled “GONG XI HAPPY.”

“This flash mob was indeed the result of discussions with the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency to conclude the first Harmoni Imlek Nusantara series in a lively and memorable way. As it coincides with Ramadan, we did not only perform to the Lunar New Year theme song, but also incorporated a remix with choreography for the song Ramadan Tiba,” said Natya Shina, who is also a TikToker with 1.8 million followers.
Members of Step By Step ID, widely known for their K-Pop cover dances, also noted that the flash mob serves as a unique attraction, involving 70 dancers performing choreography in sync with the music.
“Indonesia is rich in ethnicities, cultures, and religions. Events like this can unite younger generations, providing them with opportunities and platforms to create and further enhance their creativity. With the support of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency, we are truly excited to involve more than 70 young participants from dance communities, along with friends from BCA who also supported the flash vlog, making the event even more vibrant,” concluded Natya Shina.
