Jakarta, 26 August 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy strengthened its collaboration with the Motion Picture Association (MPA) Asia Pacific to open broader access for Indonesian filmmakers to the Hollywood film industry, following the success of Timo Tjahjanto as director of Nobody 2.

“With this collaboration with MPA, we aim to continue pushing the boundaries by exploring technical aspects of cinematography that can be developed together, so that more international collaborations can be established in the future,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar during the public screening of Nobody 2 at Djakarta Theater XXI, Sarinah, on Tuesday, 26 August 2025.
The screening was organized by Motion Picture Association (MPA) Asia Pacific, Universal Pictures, and Cinema XXI. This public screening served as a form of appreciation for extraordinary Indonesian filmmaking talent, strengthening togetherness, and reinforcing meaningful and inspiring collaboration.

The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy stated that Timo Tjahjanto’s involvement is a tangible example of collaboration that strengthens Indonesia’s position in the global film industry.
“The creative economy is becoming the new engine of growth that drives cross-sector collaboration. We fully support Timo Tjahjanto, who has become a source of inspiration for other filmmakers. His presence as the director of this film is something to be proud of—not only for production at the national level but also in bridging connections to the international arena,” said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy.
The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to supporting Indonesian talents who gain broader access and achievements at the global level. This public screening follows up on the audience meeting held with MPA Asia Pacific on 12 June 2025 regarding efforts to improve competitiveness, intellectual property protection, and strengthening copyright regulations, particularly within the film subsector.

“In the next five years, we will not only push the film sector to move forward, but also ensure that the foundations enabling creative economy practitioners to create freely and gain access to international markets continue to be strengthened, so the creative industry can have sustainable competitiveness,” explained the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy.
Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, MPA Asia Pacific, Trevor Fernandes, expressed similar support, emphasizing MPA’s commitment to enabling Indonesian filmmakers to produce Hollywood films that can compete and contribute meaningfully to the global film industry.
“MPA is highly interested in the creativity of the Indonesian market, including its growing filmmakers such as Timo Tjahjanto. By providing opportunities through Nobody 2, we hope to see more Indonesian filmmakers in the future. We look forward to this collaboration strengthening Indonesia’s connections with Hollywood studios,” said Trevor Fernandes.

Previously, director Timo Tjahjanto was also involved in various film productions such as Quickie Express (2007), Macabre (2009), Headshot (2016), The Night Comes for Us (2018), Perempuan Bergaun Merah (2022), The Big 4 (2022), The Shadow Strays (2024), and many more. Timo Tjahjanto also received the Maya Award for Selected Director for the film May the Devil Take You in 2019.
