Jakarta, June 20, 2025 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, welcomed the editorial team of CNBC Indonesia in a strategic meeting to explore cross-sector collaboration, particularly in supporting the creative economy as Indonesia’s new engine of growth.

“Today’s meeting opens up a tangible opportunity to align the strength of media with the creative economy ecosystem. CNBC Indonesia has demonstrated a strong commitment and reach to elevate creative talents to the next level. Now is the time for us to collectively amplify the narrative of their contribution to national progress,” said Deputy Minister Irene during the meeting held at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Friday, June 20, 2025.
This collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and CNBC Indonesia is not the first time. Previously, Deputy Minister Irene appeared as a speaker in 2 CNBC Indonesia programs: Top Women Talk and Top Women Festival.
The meeting also discussed a shared commitment to strengthening the role of media in amplifying the stories of Indonesian creative talents. In addition, a special program titled Industri Berkarya was proposed, set to air in celebration of the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The program will showcase the real contributions of creative economy talents to national development through a narrative approach that combines personal stories, policy insights, and economic impact.
“The creative economy represents the future of development. It is not only a symbol of cultural identity but also a sector capable of addressing global challenges through talent and innovation-based solutions,” said Deputy Minister Irene.
CNBC Indonesia introduced several new content initiatives that will be launched leading up to Independence Day, utilizing a multiplatform approach combining video features, dialogue segments, and community engagement. The Ministry of Creative Economy expressed readiness to support production by facilitating connections between media and creative economy talents across various subsectors, including those who have yet to receive mainstream exposure.
“We see Ms. Irene as very open and enthusiastic in offering guidance and concrete ideas. From today’s discussion, we gained a better understanding of how vast and strategic the creative economy ecosystem truly is. We want to be part of that narrative,” stated a representative from CNBC Indonesia.
The discussion also addressed strategic issues such as royalty and tax challenges for creators, opportunities for synergy with the Indonesian creative diaspora, and plans for content collaborations that showcase inspiring stories of local talents who built their businesses from zero. Deputy Minister Irene emphasized the importance of portraying the creative economy not only as artistic expression, but as a real driver of national economic growth.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to pursue further collaboration in various forms, ranging from broadcast programs and thematic coverage to support for joint events. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the role of both media and government in expanding the narrative of the creative economy as a new force for national development.
