Jakarta, 7 August 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, affirmed the Ministry’s full support for Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2025 during a meeting with Indonesia Design District (IDD) on Thursday, 7 August 2025. This prestigious event aims to attract international designers to further strengthen Indonesia’s local design ecosystem.

“We are ready to serve as a bridge between IDW and various stakeholders, both domestic and international,” said the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is key to positioning the creative economy as the new engine of growth. She noted that events such as IDW play a crucial role in advancing the design sector across regions in Indonesia.

“This is an initial step in strengthening synergy between the government and creative industry players, particularly in elevating design as a strategic subsector built on the spirit of collaboration,” the Deputy Minister explained.
CEO of Indonesia Design District, Ipeng Widjojo, welcomed the Ministry’s positive response. He stated that IDW is IDD’s flagship program, and the 2025 edition marks its second year of implementation.
“We hope IDW becomes a strategic platform for the design industry to showcase the latest trends from both local and international creators,” said Ipeng.

Ipeng added that IDW 2025 will feature an expanded lineup of influential international figures in the global design world. Several leaders from Milan, Paris, and New York are expected to attend and take part in discussions and collaborative sessions with Indonesian creative industry practitioners.
“We want IDW to be a space for exchanging ideas and a venue that brings together industry players from diverse backgrounds,” he added.
Furthermore, Ipeng noted that support from the Ministry of Creative Economy is highly anticipated, not only in terms of regulatory facilitation and promotion, but also in bridging collaborations between local designers and international networks. Such collaborations are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s design ecosystem and expand access to global markets.

“This ministry can serve as a strong bridge for us with the current administration, particularly in terms of networks and other forms of support. In addition, many ideas emerged today that can help connect local industry players with international partners through this national event,” he added.
Also present at the meeting were CEO of Indonesia Design District Soesilawati, Lifestyle Director of Amantara Ramon Luis Flotats, and IDD Marketing Communication Head Adito Ramadhan D. The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Director for Architecture and Design, Sabar Norma Megawati Panjaitan.
