Jakarta, 15 June 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is exploring a strategic collaboration with Kisai Entertainment to support Webtoon production, strengthen the local Intellectual Property (IP) ecosystem, and create opportunities for cooperation in the planned Jakarta Webtoon Festival 2026. Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that such collaboration is essential to reinforcing the entire value chain of the creative industry, ensuring that the works of Indonesian creators do not stop at the production stage but are supported by marketing strategies that enable each IP to evolve into a sustainable economic asset.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar received a delegation from Kisai Entertainment at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026).
"The Ministry of Creative Economy continuously encourages creative works to grow within a complete ecosystem—from production and distribution to IP strengthening and monetization through market opportunities—so that they can generate added value for Indonesia's creative economy players," said the Deputy Minister during the meeting with Kisai Entertainment at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Monday (15/6).
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister also emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is a key factor in enabling Indonesia's creative industry to expand its market reach and enhance its global competitiveness. As part of its support for the Jakarta Webtoon Festival, the Ministry is prepared to recommend venue options that align with the target audience while reinforcing Jakarta's position as an internationally recognized hub for creative economy activities.
"The Ministry of Creative Economy remains open to exploring various forms of collaboration that can strengthen the growth space for local creators. Most importantly, initiatives such as the Jakarta Webtoon Festival must be built upon a clear concept, a strong sustainability model, and meaningful contributions to the development of Indonesia's national creative economy ecosystem," she added.

Established in 2017, Kisai Entertainment focuses on original IP development, story reinforcement, IP adaptation publishing, and Webtoon creator management across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Among its notable initiatives are the W-Toon Camp Talent Development Program, conducted in five cities in 2024, and KY Academy, developed in collaboration with South Korea's YLAB. The company plans to organize the Jakarta Webtoon Festival by the end of 2026.
"The concept behind Jakarta Webtoon Festival 2026 is to celebrate both local and international IPs that first reached readers through Webtoon. We want to showcase the many outstanding webtoons created by Indonesian talents so they become more widely recognized by local audiences. We hope this collaboration can become a truly mutual partnership in developing the national creative industry and proving that Indonesia has a healthy and thriving webtoon ecosystem," said Rizqi R. Mosmarth, Festival Director of Jakarta Webtoon Festival.
Kisai Entertainment is committed to demonstrating the vast potential of Indonesia's creative market, including encouraging a stronger culture of consumption for locally developed Webtoon IPs. The initiative is also intended to strengthen industry networks, create investment opportunities, and expand the international exposure of Indonesian IPs.
