“We feel an extraordinary sense of pride because this is proof that Indonesia’s creative economy everything creative deserves to go global,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during the La Médaille des Arts et des Lettres award reception at the National Museum, Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
This prestigious award is presented by the French Government to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of arts and literature, both in France and internationally. The award also signifies that France recognizes Indonesia as a nation with a rapidly advancing creative economy sector.

"Today, we have received recognition from France, which is a breath of fresh air and solid proof of our progress. What makes Indonesia unique is its digital culture, something no other country in the world possesses," said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene, accompanied by Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu.
"Now, the challenge is how we can package our culture into something that is globally accepted. That is what the creative economy is about—not just creating, but also selling so that the creative economy can become one of Indonesia’s biggest contributors to GDP," Irene added.

During the event, Fabien Penone, French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, honored Thresia Mareta, founder of LAKON Indonesia, calling her an inspiring woman.
“You are a visionary female leader. You create opportunities and empower those around you. Tonight, we recognize your remarkable achievements,” said Penone in his speech.
As a tribute from the French Government, the award acknowledges Thresia Mareta's dedication and innovation in advancing Indonesia’s creative industry. La Médaille des Arts et des Lettres has previously been awarded to various cultural and artistic figures worldwide in recognition of their contributions to enriching the fields of arts and literature.
