Jakarta, 8 January 2026 — The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy / Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, received an audience with Sylviana Putri, founder of the local design brand Rêmên, to discuss the development of culture-based design and opportunities for collaboration within international design forums. The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for creative economy actors who independently promote Indonesian design at the international level.
The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, received an audience with Sylviana Putri, founder of the local design brand Rêmên, at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta, Thursday (8/1/2026).
During the audience, Sylviana Putri presented the profile of Rêmên as an Indonesian design brand that reinterprets local cultural and traditional values into contemporary functional objects. She also conveyed Rêmên’s plan to participate in 3daysofdesign, an international design festival held in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of efforts to expand the global exposure of Indonesian design.
“The Government plays a role as a facilitator in strengthening the creative economy ecosystem through cross-actor collaboration and matchmaking, so that the benefits can be felt more broadly across the ecosystem,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar during the audience at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, Wednesday, 8 January 2026.

According to the Deputy Minister, participation in global forums should be understood not merely as presence at an international event, but also as a strategic effort to build networks, open market access, and sustainably strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian creative products. She added that planning participation in international forums needs to be structured and measurable, taking into account potential economic impact, market sustainability, and the readiness of creative economy actors to follow up on the opportunities generated.
Sylviana Putri stated that Rêmên’s presence in the audience aimed to introduce its independent, culture-based design initiative, while also seeking input regarding participation strategies for international design forums.

“We view global design forums as spaces for learning and exchanging perspectives to bring Indonesian cultural narratives into an international context,” said Sylviana.
The audience formed part of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency’s efforts to gather input from creative economy actors and to strengthen policy formulation for the development of the design subsector amid dynamic global market conditions.
