Jakarta, May 9, 2026 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, reviewed the creative and production process of Future Loundry, an experimental fashion brand developing the concept of upcycled fashion in Bali. The visit forms part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the creative economy as the new engine of growth through the development of industries based on creativity and intellectual property (IP).
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, reviewed the creative and production process of Future Loundry in Bali on Saturday (9/5/2026).
“Future Loundry is a clear example of how creativity rooted in local culture and youth subculture can transform into a resilient economic ecosystem. This visit aims to ensure that innovations in upcycled fashion and creative IP receive the right support in order to compete in the international market,” said Irene Umar in Bali on Saturday (9/5).
During the visit, the Deputy Minister directly observed Future Loundry’s production process as part of efforts to map IP management needs and explore the potential for cross-industry collaboration. This step was taken to enable the ministry to design more targeted assistance programs for creative communities.
“We appreciate Future Loundry’s boldness in combining post-apocalyptic aesthetics with the spirit of sustainability as the identity of the future creative economy. The Ministry will continue strengthening this ecosystem so it becomes more inclusive and creates tangible impacts for creative practitioners in Bali and across Indonesia,” added the Deputy Minister.

The presence of Future Loundry demonstrates that national identity can evolve into modern, sustainable, and globally competitive innovation.
“The strength of our creative economy is no longer limited to traditional symbols, but lies in how we transform culture into a foundation for future innovation that is sustainable and competitive on the global stage,” emphasized the Deputy Minister.

Future Loundry focuses on clothing deconstruction techniques and the use of recycled materials as a sustainable fashion solution. The Deputy Minister considered the combination of tribal, sporty, anime, metal, and street culture elements created by Ican Harem to have a unique appeal for the global youth market.
Also accompanying the Deputy Minister were Special Staff to the Minister for Strengthening the Creative Economy Ecosystem and Data, Jago Anggara, and Expert Staff for Regulation and Institutional Affairs, Dahana Esa Putera.
