“Many believe that public television struggles to adapt. But tonight, I witnessed firsthand how TVRI continues to evolve and respond to the needs of the times. At 63 years old, TVRI remains present and relevant within the creative economy ecosystem,” said the Deputy Minister in her remarks at Balai Sarbini.
She described TVRI as a symbol of resilience and adaptability, having weathered various waves of technological change without losing its identity. As part of the creative economy, television remains highly relevant, particularly in strengthening cultural literacy and delivering information to regions still lacking internet access.

The Deputy Minister also fondly recalled her childhood mornings spent watching TVRI’s Sunday programs, noting that such structured viewing experiences offered unique educational value, something increasingly rare in today’s instant-access era.
She encouraged young generations to value television as a shared learning space that provides entertainment while fostering appreciation for culture and local creative works.
“Nowadays, everything is just a click away. But back then, we would wake up at 6 a.m. just to watch cartoons on TVRI. From that, we learned to value process and time,” she reminisced.
She praised TVRI’s recent move to provide on-demand content as a smart adaptation to new viewing habits, urging the broadcaster to continue embracing cross-subsector collaborations in music, film, and animation to create diverse and competitive content.

The diversity of genres reflected the openness of public media to contemporary needs while strengthening ties among creative players within a supportive ecosystem.
