“Spaces like Smesco must be able to become a home for creative economy champions. A place where they can create, practice, and continue to develop themselves. The activation of creative spaces is not merely about facilities, but a form of the state’s commitment to creative talent,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar during the visit to the Smesco Building in Jakarta on Friday, 12 December 2025.
The visit also formed part of the implementation of creative economy infrastructure (Infra Ekraf), which is included in the eight program clusters of Asta Ekraf. Deputy Minister Irene Umar added that the exploration of collaboration with Smesco is an initial step to expand support for creative economy players, particularly in terms of access to space, capacity-building programs, and commercialization opportunities.
“We want to ensure that the creative ecosystem grows with tangible support. Cross-institutional collaboration is key to strengthening this foundation,” she explained.
Through this visit, the Ministry of Creative Economy underscored the importance of optimizing existing infrastructure so it can be fully utilized by creative economy champions. Creative spaces are viewed not only as venues for activities, but also as centers for the growth of ideas, innovation, and networking among communities.
