“Our country is agrarian. Bamboo, with its remarkable water absorption capacity, helps keep agricultural land irrigation optimal. This is not merely a financial benefit, but also part of safeguarding the sustainability of the planet, because we only have one home,” said Deputy Minister Irene on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
The Turetogo Bamboo Campus, developed by the Bambu Lestari Foundation (YBL), serves as a center for bamboo innovation and training that empowers local communities, including women who play a key role in bamboo processing, while also supporting sustainable environmental conservation. Deputy Minister Irene also directly reviewed the bamboo processing facilities at the site.
“Here we can see how bamboo is not just a building material, but a symbol of local economic independence and resilience. This plant grows strong and has become a tangible part of the restorative economy,” she explained.

“I am pleased to see awareness and the spirit of mutual cooperation at every level. Everyone wants to contribute; what is needed is a shared space to listen to one another and move forward together. This is the spirit of the restorative economy that we aim to realize,” Deputy Minister Irene concluded.
