“Indonesia’s creative industry is growing rapidly. But behind this excitement lies a real challenge—how content creators can sustain themselves economically while continuing to produce meaningful and impactful work,” stated Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene on Tuesday, 26 August 2025 in her office.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene expressed these views during an exclusive interview for Zine Vol. II: Creative Through Your Lens, produced by Manusa, a creative community from Bandung focusing on digital marketing, creative marketing, and social media management. The interview was curated by Manusa along with 24 other cross-sector speakers and supported by survey responses from 100 creative industry players.
In her conversation with Manusa, the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy emphasized that the creative economy is increasingly intertwined with technology, requiring continuous innovation. She also highlighted that cross-subsector collaboration within the creative economy can elevate the quality and appeal of each creative product.
“The creative industry is increasingly relying on collaboration across creative economy subsectors to drive more competitive product innovation. Content and technology must be managed through effective monetization models to create economic value,” continued Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.

In celebration of Bandung’s anniversary as a creative city, Manusa will host ‘Hear Directly From,’ a public dialogue forum bringing together creative workers, independent communities, practitioners, and the government to discuss the realities and future of a sustainable creative industry. The main theme, ‘Nurturing Creativity, Strengthening the Economy,’ will present collective reflections across perspectives on the creative ecosystem. The event is scheduled to take place on 25 September 2025 at Tjap Sahabat Art Gallery, Bandung.
“The upcoming event is more than a discussion—it becomes a space where voices from creative workers, government, and freelancers can be heard. Coinciding with the anniversary of a creative city, it is the right moment to discuss Bandung and its future,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.
Manusa was founded in 2022 by Dinar Permadi as a creative community built from Ideabakers and Kolabohiro, both digital marketing agencies based in Bandung. Today, Manusa has established an ecosystem to facilitate discussions across various creative industry sectors, aiming to provide a shared space to channel aspirations that may grow into new opportunities. Additionally, Manusa continues to spark cross-perspective conversations on the sustainability of the creative industry through engaging content on its Instagram account @kulturmanusa.
