Jakarta, 29 September 2025 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar attended the gala premiere of the film Rangga and Cinta to extend her highest appreciation for the creative step of transforming the legendary film Ada Apa dengan Cinta? into a musical drama. According to the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, this initiative is a concrete example of how the Indonesian film industry can innovate without losing its roots.

“I warmly welcome the arrival of Rangga and Cinta, a remake of the legendary Ada Apa dengan Cinta?. Transforming this story into a musical drama is a creative step worthy of appreciation, as it delivers a fresh and relevant cinematic experience for today’s audiences,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy at XXI Epicentrum, Jakarta, Monday, 29 September 2025.
The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy sees this film as evidence that Indonesia’s film subsector continues to evolve by reviving classic works and presenting them in a new, engaging format that resonates with contemporary audiences.
According to her, Rangga and Cinta is not merely entertainment but also an example of how the Indonesian film industry preserves its heritage, innovates, and opens up broader market opportunities. The film also portrays the spirit of young people in expressing themselves and navigating life’s journey.

“I believe that with high production quality and audience support, Rangga and Cinta can achieve great success like its predecessor, while also expanding opportunities to strengthen the position of Indonesian cinema on the global stage,” the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy added.
In line with this, producer Mira Lesmana emphasized that exploration is key to keeping classic stories relevant across generations.
“For us, Rangga and Cinta is a way to celebrate a story that has been close to the hearts of the public while introducing it with a fresh perspective to the current generation. We believe music and dance can unlock different emotional layers, keeping the story alive and relevant,” said Mira.

The film was produced by Miles Films, involving numerous Indonesian creative talents in acting, music, and dance. Its release contributes to enriching the diversity of works within the national film ecosystem.
