Jakarta, 14 April, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) received an audience from the Tomohon City Government at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, to discuss strengthening the creative economy ecosystem. The meeting is part of efforts to promote the new engine of growth starting from the regions through collaboration between central and regional governments.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience from the Tomohon City Government at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
Minister Teuku Riefky emphasized the importance of mapping regional needs so that government programs can be utilized optimally.
“We have various programs that can be utilized by regions. What remains is for us to jointly map them so that the interventions carried out align with the needs of creative economy actors in Tomohon,” said the Minister on Tuesday (14/4).
The Minister also underscored the need to build an ecosystem rooted in communities and local-based intellectual property as the foundation for developing the creative economy.

“Local stories are a crucial foundation. From there, they can be developed into various creative products such as films, animation, comics, and performances with economic value,” he added.
During the audience, the Tomohon City Government conveyed several strategic needs, ranging from decorator training, access to financing for creative economy actors, development of creative hubs, to strengthening creative economy institutions at the regional level.
Mayor of Tomohon, Caroll Joram Azarias Senduk, explained that the creative economy potential in his region is dominated by young people who actively develop various creative subsectors, including culinary, fashion, and digital content, supported by community initiatives.
“We see great potential among the youth in Tomohon. They have already been moving independently, but still require support to grow more broadly and sustainably,” he stated.

The Tomohon City Government also encouraged support for the organization of the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) as a flagship agenda that has a direct impact on the tourism and creative economy sectors in the region.
TIFF 2026 is scheduled to feature the Tournament of Flowers and Tomohon Flower Carnival on August 8, 2026, as well as the Tourism, Trade, Investment, and Floriculture Expo from August 7 to 12, 2026, with a target of attracting approximately 400,000 visitors.
In response, the Minister of Creative Economy expressed appreciation for the collaboration carried out by the Tomohon City Government together with creative economy actors and communities. The Ministry of Creative Economy is also ready to support the development of the creative economy ecosystem, ranging from training to expanding networks for creative practitioners in the region.

This step is expected to strengthen the regional creative economy ecosystem as a whole and increase its contribution to the national economy. The Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied during the audience by Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design, Yuke Sri Rahayu.
