Jakarta, 4 May, 2026 – The Government continues to intensify efforts to alleviate poverty by creating employment opportunities across various sectors, including the creative economy and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, following a ministerial-level meeting at the MBloc Space area, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).

The Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, together with the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, and the Minister of MSMEs, Maman Abdurrahman, held a ministerial-level meeting at MBloc Space, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026).
Muhaimin stated that the Government is targeting the creation of 10 million jobs across various sectors by 2029, including those engaged in business and the creative economy.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that both extreme poverty alleviation and poverty reduction can be driven massively through MSME activities and the creative economy,” said Muhaimin.
The Coordinating Minister expressed optimism that the presence of the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Ministry of MSMEs will further expand employment opportunities for the Indonesian people, enabling the achievement of the set targets.
At the same venue, the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to facilitate creative entrepreneurs, particularly among underprivileged communities, to help them grow. This is especially relevant as creative economy actors continue to expand across various regions.

“Creative economy actors are growing not only in major cities but also across villages and districts, from Sabang to Merauke. They are all talented, and we continue to provide opportunities for them to scale up,” he explained.
The Ministry of Creative Economy also continues to activate creative villages and collaborate with regional governments and various stakeholders to position the creative economy as a new engine of growth from the regions.
“This aligns with the President’s directive (Prabowo Subianto) to identify and develop existing potentials—not only at the central level but also across regions,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister of MSMEs, Maman Abdurrahman, stated that inter-ministerial collaboration is a strategic step in addressing poverty in Indonesia. In this regard, the Ministry of MSMEs aligns with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Empowerment in opening public spaces for MSMEs.
“The collaboration in utilizing public facilities creates gathering spaces for young people, MSMEs, and the creative economy sector,” said Maman.
The ministerial-level meeting was held in the Blok M area, South Jakarta. The location was selected to directly observe best practices in implementing an area-based economic model. Site visits and informal dialogues were also conducted with tenants to gather input from business actors.

With an average of 80,000 visitors per day and an economic turnover of approximately IDR 5 billion, the Blok M area is considered a best practice ready for replication.
