Jakarta, 3 October 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya together with the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy attended the opening of Art Jakarta 2025 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. Minister of Creative Economy Riefky expressed his appreciation for Art Jakarta’s consistency in elevating Indonesian visual arts on the global stage.

“I am grateful, proud, and highly appreciative of the successful implementation of Art Jakarta 2025. We hope this event becomes an annual fixture and has already become a benchmark for the development of contemporary visual arts, not only in Indonesia and Southeast Asia but also globally. Art Jakarta demonstrates how visual arts serve as a key driver for Indonesia’s creative economy,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky on Friday, 3 October 2025.
Also present were Minister of Culture Fadli Zon and Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo, who, alongside Minister of Creative Economy Riefky and Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene, toured the international-scale exhibition. Minister of Creative Economy Riefky emphasized that Art Jakarta aligns with the government’s vision of positioning the creative economy as a new engine of national economic growth.
“Art Jakarta is in line with our national economic vision, making creativity a pillar of national development. We remain committed to fostering growth in this sector through various policies, facilitation, and ecosystem support. Art Jakarta is not only a space for appreciation but also a platform to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global visual arts landscape, benefiting artists, society, the nation, and the country,” Minister of Creative Economy Riefky added.
Marking its 15th edition, Art Jakarta 2025 features 75 prominent galleries, including 40 national galleries and 35 international galleries from 16 countries. Additionally, 33 artist groups and collectives participate in the Art Jakarta Scene program, reflecting the collective energy of visual arts developing across Indonesian cities.

“We aim to provide a dynamic platform for artists and creative thinkers to showcase their latest works and assert Indonesia’s increasingly important role in the visual arts, both regionally and internationally. Art inspires, encourages humanity to evolve, and unites us with hope to build a better, peaceful world,” he said.
This year’s agenda also includes special programs such as Special Presentation, featuring monumental works by Eddie Hara, Agus Suwage, Azizi Al Majid, Nuri Fatimah, and Muklay. The SPOT program showcases large-scale installations by leading Indonesian artists such as Ardi Gunawan, Ipeh Nur, Endry Pragusta, Aditya Novali, and Adi Gunawan. Meanwhile, AJX opens space for international collaboration, including the Korea Focus program supported by the South Korean government, presenting 12 prestigious galleries.

As a discussion forum, Art Jakarta Talks facilitates dialogues among artists, collectors, curators, and art observers. This year, sessions also launched several art books from independent publishers such as Jogja Art+Books and Gang Kabel Publisher, strengthening Indonesia’s art literacy ecosystem.
Organizers also announced a new initiative, Art Jakarta Papers, launching in February 2026—a special exhibition for paper-based works, print, photography, and installations, expected to broaden the scope of contemporary art exploration in Indonesia.
Through cross-sector collaboration, international partner support, and public participation, Art Jakarta 2025 reaffirms its role as a strategic meeting space connecting tradition, innovation, and creative economy opportunities, while enhancing Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy globally.
