Government Empowers Civil Servants as Digital Creators through Gen Matic and Cross-Ministerial Collaboration

Jakarta, July 30, 2025 — The government is encouraging civil servants (ASN) to become more digitally literate through the Gen Matic ASN Program initiated by the Ministry of Creative Economy. The program provides digital-based training and mentoring to help civil servants develop as professional affiliates and content creators, aligning with industry demands and the needs of the times.Dok. The initiative is organized by the Ministry of Creative Economy in collaboration with TikTok Shop by Tokopedia and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, as part of efforts to accelerate the growth of the national digital economy sector. The event was officially opened by Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, together with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto.

“I appreciate this initiative that came directly from the Ministry of Creative Economy. Thank you, Minister Riefky, for initiating this collaboration which involves so many ministries. I heard that this program even caused several online stores to temporarily close because they were invited directly by the Minister,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga, greeted with applause and laughter from participants during the event at Ali Wardhana Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

This collaboration reflects a strong spirit of cross-sector cooperation, bringing together government, industry, communities, academia, media, and financial institutions in an inclusive innovative ecosystem. Minister Airlangga described Gen Matic ASN as a progressive step in preparing human resources to adapt to rapid changes in the digital era, while also supporting the national economic growth target of 8 percent, which would be unattainable without digitalization.

“Digitally trained civil servants who are also skilled in content creation can serve as the frontliners in disseminating government programs,” added Minister Airlangga.Dok. Biro Komunikasi Kemenekraf/Bekraf.

Gen Matic ASN is designed for Indonesia’s young generation aged 17 to 35 and builds on the earlier initiative Emak-Emak Matic, now expanded to reach productive youth segments. The program features several key strategies: enhancing digital economy skills, providing technical and strategic training using the latest digital tools, offering continuous mentorship, and building strong networks among industry workers and young creators.

“Today, we are grateful that representatives from more than 10 ministries have joined us.Moving forward, we will open the next batch to reach more ministries, agencies, and local governments. The goal is not only to strengthen collaboration but also to socialize national priority programs directed by President Prabowo so they can be better understood by the public,” said Minister Teuku Riefky.Dok. Minister Teuku Riefky also underlined the importance of creating spaces that empower young people, particularly civil servants, to be confident, independent, and impactful not only in Jakarta but across the regions. Gen Matic also opens access to resources and information that enable the creation of new income opportunities in the digital world.

“We want every civil servant across Indonesia, regardless of background, to have equal opportunities to grow. Hopefully, Gen Matic will spark similar initiatives and expand cross-sector collaboration with real impact,” said Minister Teuku Riefky.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Susilo, Senior Director of Tokopedia and TikTok E-Commerce, expressed appreciation and full support for the collaboration.

“By combining Gen Matic and Creators Lab, we aim to build a vibrant ecosystem of young digital creators who can deliver real impact for communities and local economies. Through this training, participants in the second batch will gain a strong understanding of affiliate principles and personal branding, both essential to succeed in the digital era,” said Stephanie.Dok.
