Bandung, August 5, 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the younger generation tends to pursue careers in the creative economy sector. The government, he affirmed, is ready to support this by providing suitable employment opportunities.
Menteri Ekraf Teuku Riefky saat menjadi narasumber dalam Rapat Kerja dan Konsultasi Nasional Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (Rakerkonas APINDO) ke-34, Bandung, Selasa (05/08/2025).
“There is a strong desire among young people to work in fields aligned with their values and creativity. This is not only an opportunity but also a challenge for all of us to create an ecosystem that supports their growth,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky during his address as a keynote speaker at the 34th National Working and Consultation Meeting of the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Rakerkonas APINDO) in Bandung, West Java.
The 34th Rakerkonas APINDO was held from July 4 to 6, 2025. The event served as a key platform for business leaders to formulate strategic steps in supporting national development.
Minister Teuku Riefky further explained that over the past 11 years, employment in the creative economy sector has increased by nearly 90%, with more than 26.4 million creative economy players recorded today. This growth is also reflected in the rising value-added and export performance, which become key indicators that the Ministry of Creative Economy will continue to strengthen over the next five years.
He added that the annual growth of workers in the creative industry averages between 1 million and 2.5 million people, with the fashion, culinary, and media subsectors contributing the largest share.

Minister Teuku Riefky also emphasized that 57% of creative industry players are currently under 42 years old. This data indicates a positive trend of growing interest among the younger generation in pursuing professions that align with their interests and passions.
The 34th Rakerkonas APINDO this year has become an important forum for stakeholders in the business sector to present strategic perspectives on the direction of national development. The forum is also utilized to formulate concrete work programs that strengthen the role of the business community in supporting Indonesia’s economy in the coming year.
As an organization representing Indonesia’s business sector since 1952, APINDO has established a broad network comprising 34 Provincial Boards and over 350 District/City Boards nationwide. APINDO serves as the voice of national entrepreneurs on matters related to employment, industrial relations, investment, and broader business development.

During an interview session, Minister Teuku Riefky noted that his presence at this year’s Rakerkonas continues a series of previous meetings with APINDO’s national and regional management. He explained plans to establish cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening synergy in developing the creative industry across regions.
“This collaboration is crucial. The government is pushing for the creative sector as a new engine of national economic growth. The Ministry’s structure does not reach every region. Still, APINDO has networks across all provinces—and that is a major strength,” stated Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Cultural & Design Creativity Yuke Sri Rahayu and Director for Fashion Romi Astuti.
