“This discussion allows us to identify Bali’s local intellectual property (IP) potential and define the direction we want to pursue. In my view, creative economy talents in Bali should focus on intellectual property that highlights and promotes Bali’s unique characteristics. This way, we can strengthen local IP that is already reaching global markets through integrated promotion and destination branding,” said Deputy Minister Irene during the discussion, held at Bali Timbungan Resto, Badung Regency, Bali, on Monday, May 26, 2025.
During the session, Deputy Minister Irene also addressed several key points, including the protection of creative workers, enhanced access to financing and financial literacy, advertising regulation challenges in Bali, expanding Balinese animation to global platforms, facilitating creative product exports, blockchain opportunities, monetization access for streetwear and fine arts, and fashion sector innovation and evolution for adopting new technologies to compete in global markets.

“As a follow-up, we will accelerate integrated financial literacy programs for creative economy talents, focusing on investment and business management. In addition, we will continue to promote investment-based creative financing schemes in collaboration with financial institutions and banks,” Deputy Minister Irene explained.
Bali continues to face challenges with advertising regulations. Differences in advertising rules between districts and restrictions on tobacco product advertising within a certain distance of educational institutions remain obstacles for advertising businesses. Moreover, many expatriates can operate advertising service businesses without permits or land leases, with little to no legal enforcement.

“These advertising regulatory challenges fall under the authority of local governments and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and there is a need to harmonize advertising regulations across high-potential regions such as Bali,” Deputy Minister Irene added.

Also in attendance were Member of Committee II of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra; Head of Bali Provincial Tourism Office I Wayan Sumarajaya; Chairman of Denpasar Creative Board I Putu Yuliartha; Secretary of the Indonesian Advertising Companies Association (P3I) Bali Province Edy Prabowo; and around 25 creative economy talents representing seven subsectors: advertising, animation, television, games, fashion, crafts, and fine arts.
