Jakarta, February 6, 2025 – Handicrafts (kriya) are one of the leading subsectors of the creative economy. Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya is committed to promoting Indonesian handicrafts on a global scale.
This commitment was demonstrated by Minister of Creative Economy Riefky when he attended and delivered a speech at the opening of the INACRAFT Forum 2025 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). Minister of Creative Economy Riefky stated that this event strengthens the creative economy ecosystem and enhances the promotion of Indonesian crafts.
"Handicrafts are one of the leading subsectors of the creative economy, contributing significantly by accounting for 15 percent of the creative economy’s GDP in 2023," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

Minister of Creative Economy Riefky also expressed his appreciation for the Association of Exporters and Producers of Indonesian Handicraft (ASEPHI), which has consistently organized INACRAFT for 25 years. He hopes that the promotion of Indonesian handicrafts will continue to be intensified.
"My appreciation goes to ASEPHI for consistently organizing INACRAFT for 25 years, overcoming various challenges, and maintaining the spirit of promoting Indonesian handicrafts," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky, who was accompanied by the Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu, and the Acting Director of Handicrafts, Benedictus.

Minister of Creative Economy Riefky emphasized that the growing market potential for handicraft products is also influenced by effective promotional efforts through collaboration between ministries/agencies, entrepreneurs, and creative economy practitioners. With strong collaboration, he continued, the position of Indonesia’s handicraft industry on the international stage will be further strengthened, contributing to the country's economy in line with the Asta Cita vision of the President, which aims to drive national independence through self-sufficiency in the creative economy.
"Let us join hands to develop and promote the handicraft industry as an essential part of Indonesia's creative economy subsector," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.
Meanwhile, Baby Jurmawati Djuri, Vice Chairwoman II of ASEPHI Regional International Relations & Partnership, aspires to make handicrafts the central pillar of the creative economy. She hopes to collaborate with the Ministry of Creative Economy to realize the vision of Future Craft, which integrates technology, innovation, and local wisdom to ensure that handicrafts continue to evolve and remain relevant in the future.
"We want to make handicrafts the central pillar of the creative economy, with the vision of Future Craft that integrates technology, innovation, and local wisdom to ensure that handicrafts continue to grow and stay relevant in the future," said Baby Jurmawati Djuri.

Meanwhile, Muchsin Ridjan, Chairman of ASEPHI, expressed his gratitude to Minister of Creative Economy Riefky for his support. He emphasized that government support is essential for advancing the creative economy through INACRAFT, which serves as a bridge for Indonesian artisans to showcase their talents and take Indonesian crafts to the global stage.
