Jakarta, May 28, 2025 – Indonesia and France agreed to strengthen cooperation in various sectors marked by the signing of 12 agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of creative economy.
Doc. Presidential Secretariat Bureau – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky signed a bilateral cooperation on the creative economy in the presence of Prabowo and Macron at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (May 28, 2025).
The MoU was signed by Indonesia’s Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, and French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, in the presence of President Prabowo and President Macron at the State Palace. In his remarks, President Prabowo stated that the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron was the first by a European Union head of state since he was inaugurated as the 8th President of Indonesia.
This visit holds special meaning as it commemorates 75 years of diplomatic relations and reflects the ongoing strategic partnership that began in 2011, with both countries committing to strengthening ties leading up to the centennial celebration in 2050 across strategic sectors.
“As nations with deep-rooted traditions, we have also launched a strategic declaration on Indonesia–France cultural cooperation. This will serve as a framework for collaborations in various fields of culture and the creative economy, contributing to economic and social development,” said President Prabowo Subianto.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky, explained that the creative economy cooperation between the two countries includes subsectors such as gaming, film, design, fashion, and crafts. The commitment is built upon mutual respect and support for advancing progress in both nations.
“We have agreed to implement several joint programs in the creative economy, including talent development, synergy with stakeholders, market access, as well as the protection and commercialization of Intellectual Property between the two countries,” said Minister Teuku Riefky.
The Minister further elaborated that concrete steps under this cooperation include strengthening creative economy talent (human capital) through workshops, exchange programs (residencies), and co-productions. Meanwhile, to expand market access, both parties agreed to facilitate the participation of creative industry talent in various events in both countries.
The signing of the MoU was followed by a special meeting between Minister Teuku Riefky and Minister Rachida Dati at the Ministry of Creative Economy in Jakarta today. The meeting discussed in greater detail the implementation of Indonesia–France creative economy cooperation.

“With this MoU, we believe it will contribute to increasing exports, creating jobs, driving investment, and strengthening GDP contributions from the creative economy sector, in line with the Asta Cita (the visions outlined by President Prabowo Subianto) program and the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN),” said Minister Teuku Riefky.
In addition to the MoU signing, Minister Teuku Riefky will also accompany President Prabowo during the state dinner and on the second day of President Macron’s visit, including a trip with the French delegation to Borobudur Temple, Central Java, on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
