Jakarta, 2 September 2025 – Indonesia once again demonstrates its strategic role in the development of the global creative economy by hosting Radiodays Asia 2025. This international conference highlights the potential of the radio, audio, and podcast industry, which continues to grow as part of the creative economy subsector that has become the new engine of growth for the national economy.
Deputi Bidang Kreativitas Media, Kementerian Ekonomi Kreatif, Agustini Rahayu, memberi sambutan pada Radiodays Asia 2025, Jakarta, Selasa (02/09/2025).
“The presence of Radiodays Asia in Jakarta proves that Indonesia is capable of becoming an international hub for cross-sector and cross-country collaboration. This momentum is important to strengthen innovation, open investment opportunities, and develop creative talent towards Indonesia Emas 2045,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Tuesday, 2 September 2025.
Radiodays Asia 2025 carries the theme “Designing the Future of Audio” and is held outside Malaysia for the first time. The selection of Jakarta as the inaugural host reinforces Indonesia’s position on the international stage.
The event took place at Hotel Aryaduta Jakarta, featuring more than 250 participants from 24 countries, including 159 international and 91 Indonesian participants, discussing emerging technology trends, capacity building, and the future business direction of the audio industry. In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister for Media Creativity of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Agustini Rahayu, emphasized the relevance and resilience of radio amid digital disruption.
“The radio landscape reflects remarkable resilience as well as deep transformation. Radio remains the most accessible medium, trusted for its credibility, and capable of reaching a wide audience. However, it also faces challenges from changing audience behavior and the growing need to combat misinformation,” Ayu stated.
Ayu added that content innovation in audio has become a key factor in strengthening the creative ecosystem. According to her, radio is not only surviving as a traditional medium but also serves as an essential channel to disseminate creative content across regions. Meanwhile, digital audio formats offer greater flexibility, aligning with the lifestyle and media consumption patterns of today’s generation.
“Indonesia is proud to be part of the development of the radio, audio, and podcast industry. Audio content innovation, from independent podcasts sharing unique stories to the resilience of local radio as a trusted information source, demonstrates how local voices can add new colors to the global ecosystem,” she added.
The conference was officially opened by Deputy Minister for Media Creativity of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Agustini Rahayu, alongside several international speakers, including Peter Niegel (CEO of Radiodays), Andrew Davies (Head of Radio, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union), and Vivek Couto (Media Partners Asia). The presence of these figures underscores Radiodays Asia 2025 as a strategic platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and cross-country collaboration in shaping the future of the global audio industry.
The Ministry of Creative Economy is optimistic that global collaboration through this forum will further strengthen the contribution of the radio and television subsector in driving national creative economy growth, while positioning Indonesia as a significant player in the global creative ecosystem.
