In his remarks, the Minister emphasized that intellectual property is not merely a tool of protection but also a driving force for a sustainable and inclusive creative and digital economy. “We want to ensure that IP serves as an incentive, not a barrier, for creators and entrepreneurs, particularly in today’s digital economy,” he stressed.
Indonesia also highlighted the success of a side event and exhibition entitled “Local Roots, Global Reach: Showcasing Indonesia’s Intellectual Properties”, which featured success stories of local creative players such as Tahilalats comics, now featured on international flights and trains.

This activity demonstrated how the strategic use of intellectual property can promote global recognition of Indonesian creators while preserving cultural values that form the nation’s identity.
The Minister of Creative Economy also presented updates on the Development Agenda (DA) project on Creative Industries in the Digital Era, supported by WIPO. The project has provided training and practical support for creators in Indonesia to overcome challenges in the digital landscape and strengthen awareness of the importance of intellectual property management.
“Indonesia’s journey reflects our efforts to make IP an integral part of our national development strategy,” he added.
Concluding his statement, the Minister expressed appreciation for WIPO’s leadership and reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to continue strengthening cross-country collaboration to foster an intellectual property system that delivers tangible benefits for societies and global communities.
The 66th WIPO Assemblies brought together member states to discuss policy directions and cooperation in the development of the global intellectual property system.
