INTERFEX 2026 Expected to Boost Indonesia’s Furniture and Interior Industry

Jakarta, May 25, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency explored a strategic collaboration with Garindo Media Tama to strengthen the national competitiveness of the furniture industry and interior design subsector through the Indonesia Interior & Furniture Expo (INTERFEX) 2026 agenda. In addition to targeting domestic growth, the planned collaboration is also aimed at improving the quality of the creative industry ecosystem based on furniture and interior design.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, received an audience with Garindo Media Tama at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta on Monday (25/5/2026).

“If we want to strengthen the domestic market for the creative industry, then we must ensure clear competitive advantages and stronger readiness. Indonesia actually possesses strong craftsmanship with cultural touches that distinguish it from other countries. This is what must be encouraged so that the local furniture and interior industry can not only survive, but also become the primary choice for the domestic market,” said Deputy Minister Irene Umar during the audience at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta on Monday (25/5).

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the challenges faced by the national furniture industry cannot be resolved partially, but instead require collaboration across the entire ecosystem, ranging from producers and interior designers to associations that share the same goal of increasing the exposure of the local furniture industry.

“INTERFEX 2026 will create momentum for all stakeholders to sit together and honestly examine the challenges within the furniture industry, such as quality, supply readiness when demand increases, and the timeliness of product completion. If the entire ecosystem moves together, then the enormous domestic market can actually become our main strength based on the spirit of mutual cooperation,” said Irene Umar.

Indonesia Interior & Furniture Expo (INTERFEX) 2026 is an interior, furniture, and lifestyle design-based exhibition that will be held on July 5–9, 2026, at Tirtonadi Convention Hall. The exhibition is also expected to support the strengthening of Solo’s city branding as a center for the Srikayu furniture small and medium industry.

“INTERFEX 2026 will present an exhibition complete with forums, workshops, and spaces that connect potential visitors, including potential buyers, with exhibitors. The potential buyers are expected to come from the domestic market so that the economic benefits can be felt more directly by local furniture and interior industry players,” said Dian Eka Yanto, President Director of Garindo Media Tama.

Meanwhile, the domestic furniture industry still faces several challenges, ranging from production capacity and quality consistency to delivery punctuality. On the other hand, there are major opportunities in utilizing waste materials into furniture and interior products with economic value. Through the spirit of mutual cooperation between the government, private sector, and associations, the implementation of INTERFEX 2026 is expected to become a catalyst in strengthening the competitiveness of the national furniture industry so that it becomes increasingly competitive and sustainable.

“We are grateful for the positive response from the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy and the support from the Ministry of Creative Economy, which is ready to collaborate so that INTERFEX 2026 becomes an initiative in Indonesia to strengthen collaboration within the domestic market ecosystem in responding to the demands of the furniture industry. Therefore, when there is market demand, the supply side can follow accordingly, allowing the interior ecosystem to continue growing. Through this, we can work together as one nation to overcome challenges collectively,” added Dian Eka Yanto.

Also accompanying Deputy Minister Irene Umar was Jago Anggara. Representatives from Garindo Media Tama included Project Manager Yohan and other team members such as Dian and Christian.
