Jakarta, June 3, 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has shown strong support for Jumbo, Indonesia’s highest-grossing animated film produced by Visinema, as it steps onto the international stage. An Intimate Screening was held for members of the foreign diplomatic community at Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, to mark the occasion.

The screening was attended by representatives from 22 embassies, including ambassadors, deputy chiefs of mission, and public and cultural diplomacy officers.
Director for Film, Animation, and Video at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Doni Setiawan, emphasized that Jumbo’s success is a tangible testament to the significant potential of Indonesia’s animation industry to contribute to the national creative economy and serve as a new engine of growth.
“Jumbo has proven that local creators are capable of producing innovative and high-quality works. This is a major milestone in the rise of Indonesia’s animation industry, and one we must continue to nurture,” said Doni.

The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to advancing homegrown creative works, especially in the film, animation, and video sectors, by supporting the growth of Indonesia’s animation industry through training programs and creative talent development.
The Ministry commended Jumbo for becoming the most-watched Indonesian film to date, reaching 10,098,041 viewers by its 65th day in theaters.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of the entire production team, particularly the more than 420 local creators who contributed to making Jumbo the highest-grossing animated film in Southeast Asia and the top-grossing film of all time in Indonesia.
Doni Setiawan also highlighted that the Ministry of Creative Economy support for Jumbo's global launch opens the door for more countries to experience the richness of Indonesian creative works and fosters greater public awareness about the importance of supporting local products.
“We remain firmly committed to elevating local creative works not only at the national level but also on the global stage, where they can help drive Indonesia’s economy forward,” Doni stated.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar shared in a personal social media post that Jumbo premiered internationally on June 5 in Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, with further releases scheduled for June 26 in Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore.

Full support was also expressed by Ani Nigeriawati, Director of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a brief interview, Ani described Jumbo as an effective tool of Indonesia’s soft power diplomacy, capable of reaching the hearts and minds of global audiences.
“We are proud to present Jumbo at various international film festivals and diplomatic events to showcase Indonesia’s rich culture and creative talent to the world,” Ani said.
New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia Phillip Taula praised the film for its depth of message and impressive animation quality.
“Jumbo features exceptional animation quality, with dynamic movements and expressive details. It’s a compelling film that reflects the immense potential of Indonesia’s animation industry, both in terms of production value and storytelling,” said Ambassador Taula after attending the screening at XXI, Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, on May 27, 2025.
