Jakarta, January 9, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya held an official meeting with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) to discuss the strong intersection between the creative economy sector and the hospitality and restaurant industries.
Minister of Creative Economy Riefky emphasized that data exchange and collaboration in developing collaborative events align with the creative economy subsectors. He expressed hope that partnerships with PHRI could foster these initiatives.
"In reality, the creative economy and tourism sectors have increasingly contributed to employment generation. The creative economy can serve as a national growth engine that begins at the regional level. Moving forward, the 17 creative economy subsectors must be stimulated to continue driving regional creative economies," stated Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during the meeting held at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi, Director for Marketing System Development and Institutional Relations Radi Manggala, and Director for Infrastructure Facilitation Fahmy Akmal.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene noted that collaborative potential could focus on supporting initiatives, such as utilizing creative economy products for hotel needs (amenities, entertainment, etc.). Additionally, joint activation programs could explore areas like game development, animated films, and reading corners.
"Collaborative potential in the creative economy sector could extend into marketing networks, utilizing local intellectual property (IP). Moreover, the Ministry of Creative Economy already has the Re(Kreasi) Lokal Program, which provides local game consoles and local culinary experiences in several hotels under the Artotel Group, a member of PHRI," added Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.
PHRI welcomed the potential for collaboration, highlighting the importance of state support for creative economy subsectors. They also emphasized the need for digitalization to protect local IP, particularly within the hotel and restaurant sectors.
"There is a strong connection between the creative and tourism industries. We hope that future collaborations will enhance the value of the creative economy through events such as cultural festivals, music festivals, and art festivals within hotel and restaurant networks across Indonesia," said Hariyadi BS Sukamdani, Chairman of PHRI.
