Jakarta, 28 January, 2026 - Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received a courtesy visit from Australia’s Minister for the Arts, Anthony Stephen Burke, at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/28/2026). This second meeting serves as a continuation of efforts to strengthen synergies between the Indonesian and Australian creative industries.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya received a courtesy visit from Australia’s Minister for the Arts, Anthony Stephen Burke, at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Wednesday (28 January 2026).
In addition to serving as Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke also serves as the Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Cyber Security, and Minister for Immigration and Citizenship of Australia.
During the meeting, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya expressed appreciation for the achievements of bilateral collaboration throughout 2025, including the 10th anniversary of the Australia–Indonesia Cinema Festival (FSAI), business matching agendas in Sydney through the S’RASA (Rasa Rempah Indonesia) program, and a cooperation agreement with Canva Inc. to support the empowerment of Indonesian creative talents.
“Indonesia–Australia creative economy cooperation continues to grow from year to year. We hope that 2026 will become an important phase to expand cross-subsector collaboration and strengthen the strategic partnership between our two countries,” said Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya.
The Minister emphasized that this collaboration aligns with the Indonesian Government’s efforts to position the creative economy as a globally competitive and innovation-driven new engine of growth.
“We are directing this cooperation so that Indonesian creative economy players can scale up, connect with global markets and talents, and take a more active role in international value chains,” he added.

Both ministers also discussed several forward-looking strategic plans, including preparations for the Australia Awards Indonesia short course program in the animation subsector, the organization of the 11th Australia–Indonesia Cinema Festival (FSAI), and Australia’s participation in the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026, for which Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya formally invited Minister Tony Burke to attend in Jakarta.
Minister Tony Burke welcomed the strengthening of cooperation and noted that creative economy collaboration between Indonesia and Australia offers significant opportunities for both countries.
“If we continue to share optimistic progress in our cooperation, this will be a very exciting time for both our nations,” said Minister Tony Burke.
During the meeting, Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya was accompanied by senior officials of the Ministry of Creative Economy, including Dessy Ruhati as Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy; Cecep Rukendi as Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy; Dian Permana Sari as Senior Advisor for Research, Education, and Institutional Relations; Rian Firmansyah as Special Advisor for Strategic and Inter-Agency Issues; Agus Syarip Hidayat as Director of Strategic Studies and Management; and Radi Manggala as Director of Marketing System Development and Institutional Relations.

Minister Tony Burke was accompanied by representatives of the Australian Government, including Rod Brazier (Australian Ambassador to Indonesia), Ciara Spencer (Acting Head of National Security, Australian Department of Home Affairs), George Threadgold (Senior Advisor, Australian Department of Home Affairs), Jamila Clark (Media Advisor, Australian Department of Home Affairs), as well as representatives of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
