“The event industry plays a strategic role within the creative economy ecosystem. Therefore, we want to ensure that this sector receives proper support, including through government regulations and policies,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during the meeting at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Minister of Creative Economy Riefky emphasized that the creative economy continues to build synergy with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), particularly regarding the Indonesian Standard Classification of Business Fields (KBLI). This initiative aims to better position the event industry within the creative economy landscape, enhance employment opportunities, foster entrepreneurship, and further develop the creative industry.
He also noted that the Ministry of Creative Economy is planning to revise regulations concerning the creative industry by the end of this year, with a key focus on ensuring that the event sector is provided with clear legal frameworks within the creative economy or tourism ecosystem.

At the same meeting, Chairman of Ivendo, Mulkan Kamaludin, welcomed the initiative and stated that the audience with the Minister of Creative Economy Riefky marked an important milestone for the Indonesian event industry.
“We at the Indonesian Event Industry Council are very pleased to have this discussion with the Minister. The dialogue opened up numerous collaboration opportunities between the Ministry of Creative Economy and Ivendo. The event industry is closely linked with many creative economy sub-sectors, from designers to show directors,” said Mulkan.
Ivendo representatives also shared several challenges currently faced by the event industry, such as rising production costs, budget cuts, the recent increase of Value-Added Tax (VAT) to 12%, and issues surrounding event execution stability. In response, Ivendo hopes that the government can provide tax relief policies, expedite payment processes, and improve workforce certification programs in the event sector.

“We hope the government can extend further support to the event industry—through improved regulations, tax incentives, and facilitation for industry players—so they can continue to grow and contribute to the national economy,” he added.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy for Creative Economy Strategic Development, Cecep Rukendi; Deputy for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu; and Acting Head of the Communications Bureau, Kiagoos Irvan Faisal.
