Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky praised the awards, held as part of Jakarta Dessert Week, for promoting the creative economy and serving as a collaborative platform for culinary practitioners.

“We would like to appreciate the Golden Swirl Awards 2025, which were organized excellently as part of Indonesia Dessert Week. Thank you for your initiative in continually showcasing Indonesian cuisine, especially desserts, to the global market. We hope this effort brings impact not only to business owners and chefs but also to dessert enthusiasts in Indonesia and abroad,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky at La Moda, Plaza Indonesia, on Monday, 8 September 2025.
The Ministry of Creative Economy believes that each creation and innovation presented reflects the dedication and passion of pastry and dessert entrepreneurs who continuously drive the advancement of Indonesia’s culinary industry. The Golden Swirl Awards 2025 are expected to serve as a starting point for further collaborative achievements and future innovation, particularly in the dessert sector.
“The presence of the Ministry of Creative Economy encourages collaboration between government, cross-ministerial partners, entrepreneurs, and chefs, whose combined efforts are expected to have an impact and contribute to driving the creative economy as a new engine of national economic growth. We congratulate all recipients of the Golden Swirl Awards 2025,” added Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.
Culinary arts not only serve as a new growth engine but also as a tool of cultural diplomacy and an accelerator continuously developed through innovation and collaboration. In 2024, the culinary subsector contributed 42% to Indonesia’s creative economy GDP.
The event not only celebrates culinary creativity but also supports sustainable tourism by strengthening Jakarta’s image as a gastronomic destination.
“Jakarta Dessert Week, the starting point of this event, has been selected for five consecutive years as part of Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN), aligned with priority programs in three main segments: marine tourism, gastro tourism, and wellness tourism. We, together with the Ministry of Creative Economy, always support events that present ‘one taste, one love for Indonesia,’” said Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa.

Golden Swirl Awards 2025 celebrates excellence and creativity in Indonesia’s dessert industry. The judging process involved nine credible board members representing experts, practitioners, and prominent figures in Indonesia’s culinary industry.
“We designed 13 award categories to provide fair recognition for the diversity and extraordinary talent in the country’s dessert industry. We aim to make Indonesia, especially its desserts, not only a source of national pride but also an economic and cultural diplomacy asset. We hope this award inspires new energy to continue creating and contributing to Indonesia’s creative industry,” said Gupta Sitorus, co-founder of Indonesia Dessert Week.

The Golden Swirl Awards 2025 opened with a Kumbang Ronggeng Betawi dance performance by Gandrung Dance Studio. The announcement of nominees and winners was enlivened by talented chefs and leading dessert entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky was accompanied by Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity Yuke Sri Rahayu, Culinary Director Andy Ruswar, and Minister’s Expert Staff Panji Purboyo. The event was also attended by Deputy Assistant for Regional Events at the Ministry of Tourism Reza Pahlevi, Secretary of Tourism and Creative Economy of DKI Jakarta Helma Dahlia, Head of Tourism and Creative Economy of DKI Jakarta Puji Hastuti, representatives from Dewan Kuliner Indonesia Talita Setyadi, Deputy Chief Marketing Officer Plaza Indonesia Zamri Mamat, and dessert business owners.
