Jakarta, 26 September 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya welcomed the initiative of Pengurus Besar Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (PB HMI) to collaborate in developing Indonesia’s creative economy. According to the Minister, HMI has dedicated structures for creative economy initiatives, namely the Entrepreneurship and Professional Development Division.

“We appreciate PB HMI as one of the youth organizations that actively manages creative economy programs. We also affirm our readiness to collaborate and empower young generations in nurturing a sustainable creative industry,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky during the audience at Autograph Tower Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, on Friday, 26 September 2025.
The Minister of Creative Economy commended HMI’s Leadership School (SEPIM) 2025, highlighting the crucial role of youth in driving economic growth through creative sectors such as fashion, digital technology, design, and media creativity. He also expressed his hope that PB HMI could help promote National Creative Economy Day this year through engaging social media content.

“We hope PB HMI can assist in campaigning for National Creative Economy Day on 24 October so that all young generations can join the celebration. This way, we can collectively build digital enthusiasm through active social media content,” said the Minister of Creative Economy, accompanied by Director of Marketing Systems and Institutional Relations, Radi Manggala.
The importance of institutional strengthening and youth entrepreneurship support within PB HMI was also emphasized by Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi. He noted that the number of creative economy jobs continues to rise annually, with over 60 percent of the workforce under 40 years old, making the sector’s growth remarkably dynamic.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy focuses on maximizing national revenue contributions to GDP, fostering exports and investments, and creating quality jobs. Collaboration with HMI is crucial to accelerating the development of the creative economy that actively involves youth,” said Deputy Cecep.
Meanwhile, HMI Chairman Bagas Kurniawan welcomed the audience with the Ministry. He stated that this engagement opens opportunities for young generations to increase positive and productive youth activities.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy is very open to suggestions from young people. This can be an initial step for collaboration, especially for HMI cadres interested in the creative economy, allowing them to develop their potential according to HMI programs. We hope this will enhance literacy on the creative economy, improve capacity and capability in managing creative businesses, and broaden access to markets,” said Bagas.
HMI, founded in Yogyakarta on 5 February 1947, currently has 22 Coordination Bodies, 267 branches, 5 international branches, and over 500,000 members across Indonesia. The organization plans to hold HMI Leadership School 2025 in October to train visionary national leaders with strong values of patriotism, integrity, and character.
