Paris, July 15, 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the “Strategic Cultural Dialogue” in Paris on Tuesday (15/7) at the invitation of French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France in the fields of culture and creative economy. The meeting was also attended by Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon.

This meeting follows up on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both ministries in Jakarta last May, during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Indonesia. Minister Teuku Riefky’s presence also formed part of the state visit program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who attended France’s national Bastille Day 2025 celebrations as Guest of Honor.
The meeting brought together 15 representatives from various French stakeholders, including associations and creative industry talents in film, game, fashion, music, publishing, performing arts, as well as organizations focused on cultural management, such as museums and heritage preservation institutions.

During the meeting, Minister Teuku Riefky highlighted three key points. First, he emphasized the importance of a joint commitment to implementing concrete programs to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem in both countries. Second, he proposed five follow-up initiatives to the MoU, covering capacity building, talent exchange, and policy research collaboration. Third, he expressed Indonesia’s interest in learning from France’s experience in developing strong and inclusive creative economy policies and regulatory frameworks.
As part of this working visit, the Minister of Creative Economy and his delegation also held in-depth discussions in three key subsectors: film, animation, and game.

In the film sector, the Indonesian delegation visited the headquarters of the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) and engaged in discussions with the CNC President and senior experts. For animation, the delegation is scheduled to discuss with the Gobelins School, one of the world’s leading animation institutions.
Concrete follow-ups from this visit include:
a) Strengthening Mindful Creative Economy through joint research for film sector policy development, including institutional studies and cinema tax policy reviews (earmark tax policy);
b) Enhancing Creative Economy Talent through training programs with French institutions and technical assistance from CNC in film and video game development;
c) Building Creative Economy Synergy by creating networks between Indonesian and French creative industry talents.

Overall, this meeting reflects a joint commitment to advancing the creative economy sector as a driver of cultural diplomacy and economic strength under President Prabowo’s administration.
