Minister of Creative Economy Attends Creators Lab: Emak-Emak Matic, Applauds Digital Skills Training for Local Products

Makassar, April 24, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya attended the Creators Lab: Emak-Emak Matic event held at the Hyatt Place Ballroom, Makassar, on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The program was a collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy, Tokopedia, and TikTok Shop, aimed at providing digital skills training to empower Indonesian women to become digitally literate, understand the role of affiliates, and grow as content creators.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky praised the women’s empowerment initiative, emphasizing its role in helping participants generate income through the creative industry.

“The creative industry must continue to grow. Initiatives like Creators Lab: Emak-Emak Matic can enhance women’s participation and potential, especially in South Sulawesi. This program ensures that the creative economy can thrive through digital platforms. I appreciate TikTok Shop and Tokopedia for embracing this initiative so positively,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

He further stressed that the program not only provides training and mentoring but also serves as a platform to promote South Sulawesi’s local products through e-commerce. “I hope that what is being sold are also local products, particularly those unique to South Sulawesi,” he added.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky also expressed hope that the program would help build digital communities of women who can share business opportunities with one another.

“Hopefully, with the support of the central government, local governments, and private partners like Tokopedia and TikTok, people in South Sulawesi can gain additional income,” he said.

South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman welcomed the program, affirming the province’s commitment to supporting collaborations, particularly in curating and promoting local products.

“I firmly believe that the creative economy can become a source of income and reach global markets from home. This means that women participating in Emak-Emak Matic have both the spirit and the business opportunities to earn income more easily,” Governor Andi said.

Melissa Siska Juminto, President Director of Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce Indonesia, explained that the program carries a strong mission to empower women, particularly homemakers, by equipping them with digital skills.

“This collaboration aims to empower 10,000 women across 12 regions, including Makassar,” Melissa noted.

The Creators Lab: Emak-Emak Matic featured four training sessions: affiliate marketing and personal branding, content strategy and video scripting, live-streaming preparation, and hands-on practice in content creation and live-streaming.

The Ministry of Creative Economy, Tokopedia, and TikTok Shop will continue to advance the program as a driver of the creative economy, with the goal of nurturing women who are more productive, financially independent, and empowered as creators.

At the event, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky was accompanied by Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy Dessy Ruhati; Deputy for Digital and Technology Creativity Muhammad Neil El Himam; Director of Digital Content Yuana Rochma Astuti; and Special Staff for Strategic and Intergovernmental Affairs Rian Syaf.

Also present were Deputy Mayor of Makassar Aliyah Mustika Ilham, Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce Director Vonny Ernita Susanto, and Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Expert Staff Pandu Satyahadi Putra.
