Jakarta, 14 February, 2026 — Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya attended the inauguration of the board of the Indonesian Association of British Alumni (IABA) for the 2025–2029 period. Minister Teuku Riefky expressed hope that IABA would serve as a catalyst to foster innovation and international collaboration.

“The creative economy is capable of building the capacity of talents who can drive local heroes to go national and national champions to go global. Congratulations on the inauguration of the new IABA board. May it bring diverse perspectives in contributing to the creative economy, which is poised to become the new engine of growth,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky at the event held at Menara BRILiaN Ballroom, Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky also emphasized the importance of cooperation in training, education, and the development of creative talent. He expressed confidence that IABA can become a solid and collaborative strategic partner with government institutions, universities, and private sector organizations to create opportunities that generate social impact and advance the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy.

This statement aligns with one of IABA’s missions to facilitate knowledge exchange between Indonesia and the United Kingdom. As an official organization that brings together alumni of UK education in Indonesia, IABA is committed to advancing education, contributing to national development, and fostering networks toward international collaboration.
“The Ministry of Creative Economy certainly needs support from strategic partners through a hexahelix collaboration approach. This aligns with IABA’s vision to build a UK alumni community that contributes to Indonesia’s progress through collaboration, education, and networking strategies,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky, who was accompanied by Director of Marketing System Development and Institutional Relations Radi Manggala.

The inauguration of the new IABA board carried the theme ‘Impact for the Nation.’ Within IABA’s organizational structure, there are 19 departments entrusted with driving the transformation of experience and professional capacity, including three departments related to the creative economy: the Department of Digitalization and Information Technology, the Department of Arts, Creativity, and Culture, and the Department of Entrepreneurship, Industry, and MSMEs.
Each year, around 3,000 Indonesian students graduate from various educational backgrounds in the United Kingdom, bringing the total number of those who have pursued international education to nearly 20,000. The spirit of the organization carried by IABA is expected to strengthen the sense of community among alumni while contributing to national progress.
“Today marks a reaffirmation that IABA is a shared home. It is a space that brings together experiences, ideas, and the spirit of cross-generational collaboration, where the potential for partnership can be realized through a shared commitment to contribute and create impact for society and the nation in a stronger and more sustainable way,” said IABA Chairperson and alumnus of the University of Birmingham, as well as Expert Staff for Inter-Institutional Relations at the Ministry of Public Works, Triono Junoasmono.

The inauguration of the IABA board for the 2025–2029 period was opened with a traditional dance performance by Sanggar Nusa Budaya, followed by the official inauguration ceremony. This board is expected to strengthen the organization’s role as a platform for cross-generational alumni collaboration oriented toward tangible contributions to Indonesia, serving as a collaborative space that connects the global experiences of alumni with national development needs.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to open avenues for collaboration in the development of creative talent, strengthening global networks, and creating economic opportunities across subsectors that deliver direct benefits to the nation. Cross-sector collaboration fostered through IABA is expected to generate innovations and creative solutions with tangible impacts on society and the national economy.
The inauguration event was also attended by members of the IABA Board of Trustees, including Head of the Presidential Staff Office Muhammad Qodari, Deputy Minister of Finance Juda Agung, Constitutional Court Justice Arsul Sani, Special Assistant to the President Dirgayuza Setiawan, as well as newly inaugurated IABA board members.
