Minister of Creative Economy Attends International Conference on Infrastructure: Infrastructure as the Foundation for Creative Economy Development

Jakarta, June 11, 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy supports the 2025 International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI) as a strategic platform that encourages collaboration in building sustainable infrastructure in Indonesia. Strong, adaptive, and innovative infrastructure is seen as a solid bridge for the growth of the creative economy.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), as host of the event, expressed his hope that the conference would encourage the exchange of ideas, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate investment in advancing infrastructure development as a national priority. AHY also emphasized that ICI 2025 is not just a forum for discussion, but a foundation for real action in expanding Indonesia’s infrastructure.

“ICI 2025 presents the theme of sustainable infrastructure for the future, innovation, and collaboration. It will serve as a forum that lays the foundation for transformative actions to shape the direction of Indonesia’s journey. Our success will depend on what we build, how we build it, and—most importantly—for whom we build it,” said AHY during the opening ceremony held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

ICI 2025, organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, is held on June 11–12, 2025, and is attended by representatives from the central and regional governments, financial institutions, multinational infrastructure companies, international organizations, experts, practitioners, and academics. Panel discussions, thematic sessions, and exhibitions featuring various booths are expected to strengthen collaboration and advance infrastructure development in Indonesia.

The event was attended by nearly 7,000 participants from 26 countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Iran, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Canada, Norway, Spain, Hungary, Denmark, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Uruguay, Finland, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, China, Russia, and the United States. In addition, prominent investors and financial institutions such as Macquarie (Australia), GIC (Singapore), the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and The Asia Group were also present.

“Infrastructure is not only about what we build, but also about what we make possible. It enables a child to study safely at school, a farmer to irrigate crops in a changing climate, a family to access clean water, and an entrepreneur to market their creative ideas. ICI 2025 must serve as a foundation for a more connected, resilient, and better world,” AHY added.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, who also attended ICI 2025, stated that infrastructure is essential as a foundation that supports the growth of the creative economy. Infrastructure plays a critical role in accessibility, distribution, digital connectivity, and the creation of creative and innovative spaces.

“We aim to ensure that Indonesia’s infrastructure can serve as the foundation and access point for the development of creative economy subsectors, enabling productive and sustainable collaboration,” said Minister Teuku Riefky.

As one of the collaborating ministries, the Ministry of Creative Economy activated an innovative booth featuring intellectual property consultation services, a mini-exhibition of creative space models, virtual tours, and videos related to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), as well as poster displays highlighting priority regions for creative economy development across Indonesia.

“Through our booth activation at this conference, we aim to introduce the Ministry of Creative Economy, which has intellectual property consulting services and creative space facilitation to encourage connectivity and investment in various creative economy subsectors," said Minister Teuku Riefky.

The opening of ICI 2025 was also attended by Deputy Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (Dewan Perwakilan Daerah Republik Indonesia/DPD RI) Tamsil Linrung, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Minister of Transmigration Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Maman Abdurrahman, Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana, and Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ossy Dermawan.

Accompanying Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky at the event were Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi, Special Staff to the Minister for Strategic and Interagency Issues Rian Firmansyah, and Director for Infrastructure Facilitation Fahmy Akmal.
