Minister of Creative Economy Attends IPXpose 2025 Opening, Promotes Intellectual Property Protection for the Creative Economy

Jakarta, 13 August 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of MSMEs, launched an intellectual property (IP)-based financing program at IPXpose 2025, held at the SMESCO Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 13 August 2025. This program allows copyright certificates to serve as loan collateral.

Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, menghadiri pembukaan IPXpose 2025 yang berkolaborasi dengan Kementerian Hukum dan Kementerian UMKM, Jakarta, rabu (13/08/2025).

“The international market requires quality products with intellectual property protection. Indonesia has great potential to become a major player on the global stage,” said the Minister of Creative Economy during the IPXpose opening themed “Advancing Indonesia through Creative and Innovative Works of the Nation’s Youth.”

The Minister added that the government continues to strengthen IP protection as a key factor in entering global markets. Last month, Indonesia participated in the WIPO Assembly attended by 194 member countries. On Tuesday, 12 August 2025, the Ministry of Ekraf signed an MoU with WIPO.

“The President emphasizes that local IP must go global. Therefore, we are preparing IP certification while opening access to international markets in collaboration with relevant ministries,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

During the event, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas highlighted that the IP-based financing program is implemented in cooperation with BRI, allowing IP to be used as loan collateral.

“Indonesia is the 15th country in the world, third in ASEAN, and sixth in Asia to implement this scheme,” stated the Minister of Law.

The initiative also received support from Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman, who considers this policy as a tangible recognition that IP can serve as an intangible asset.

“The potential for job creation from this policy could reach 25 million across Indonesia. IP certificates can be used as collateral to accelerate micro, small, and medium enterprises, particularly those in the creative economy,” he explained.

Director General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law, Razilu, noted that IP applications in Indonesia have grown by an average of 18.5% per year over the past decade. In 2024, copyright registrations accounted for more than 50% of applications, surpassing trademarks which had dominated for nine consecutive years.

The Ministry of Ekraf also contributes to IPXpose through the Directorate of Intellectual Property Facilitation Development. The booth services include registration, consultation, and IP advocacy, with facilitation quotas for 50 applicants. The exhibition runs from 13–16 August 2025.

The Minister of Creative Economy emphasized that the development of the creative economy is not only concentrated in major cities but also extends evenly across regional areas.

“When IP protection is strong, creative actors throughout the archipelago have equal opportunities to grow. This is a tangible form of independence,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

Through IPXpose, the government affirms its commitment to building a strong, inclusive creative economy ecosystem capable of competing in global markets. Cross-sectoral synergy is expected to serve as a driving force for equitable economic growth, ensuring that the benefits of development reach all communities.
