Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya receives an audience with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Belgium, accredited to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Union, H.E. Andy Rachmianto, at the Ministry of Creative Economy office, Jakarta, Friday (8/5/2026).
The Minister stated that, in line with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita agenda, the government is committed to increasing quality employment opportunities, including through the development of the creative industry.
“The creative economy is not only about creative works, but also about the future of Indonesia’s younger generation. In essence, the Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to accelerate local heroes to go national and national champions to go global through collaborative support with Indonesian embassies in various countries, including Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union,” said Teuku Riefky at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta, Friday (8/5).
According to data from the Ministry of Creative Economy, the creative economy sector recorded investment realization of Rp183 trillion in 2025, equivalent to 134 percent of the national target. This achievement significantly contributes to job creation for millennials and Generation Z.
The Minister also conveyed that Indonesia will utilize the implementation of the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026 to strengthen its position as a global hub for creative economy diplomacy. The forum will bring together creative industry players, academics, and international organizations from approximately 80 countries to discuss the future of the global creative economy, including artificial intelligence disruption, intellectual property protection, and sustainable creative economy development.

“We are planning to organize a series of events under Oktober Kreasi, which will include the celebration of National Creative Economy Day as well as the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026. We hope the Indonesian Ambassador can provide recommendations for inspiring global creative economy figures who could be invited to this event. This momentum is important as part of Indonesia’s diplomatic efforts to unite a collective movement for a sustainable creative economy,” emphasized the Minister.
The audience also discussed opportunities for the development of Indonesia’s creative economy subsectors within the European market, ranging from culinary arts, film, animation, games, fashion, comics, and crafts, to the promotion of WCCE 2026. Previously, in October 2025, the Minister had also invited the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) to strengthen collaborative partnerships among countries in the creative economy sector.
“Considering that Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union already have relatively advanced creative industries, I conveyed several cooperation opportunities in subsectors such as culinary products, including coffee, animation, film, and fashion. Coincidentally, this coming September, we will also hold the Brussels International Film Festival (BRIFF). We hope to feature Indonesian films at the event,” said H.E. Andy Rachmianto.
The discussion also explored the potential role of the Indonesian Ambassador as a strategic partner for WCCE 2026, thereby opening broader networks for event promotion as well as potential markets for Indonesia’s creative economy.
