"I greatly appreciate the long journey of the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival, which has gained international recognition. This is one of the key indicators that the creative economy, particularly the music subsector, has ample opportunity to continue to grow through exciting collaborations," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during a meeting with Java Festival Production at the Pesona Indonesia Film Building in Jakarta on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

This year, the 20th edition of Java Jazz will take place in mid-year. The discussion during this meeting included proposals for continued collaboration within the music subsector, aimed at expanding its global presence.

"We support and agree to promote music as a way to revive the creative economy and create quality jobs, especially since many parties are involved in organizing a music festival," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky, who was accompanied by Agustini Rahayu, Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy.

At the same event, Dewi Gontha, President Director of Java Festival Production, explained that the company focuses on promoting entertainment in Indonesia, particularly music. "This year, the Java Jazz Festival wants to highlight how many new musicians are using jazz to introduce themselves. There will be 11 stages and around 115 music performances over the three days of the 2025 Java Jazz Festival. We have also just launched the official mascot and have many other activities in preparation for the festival's 20th anniversary," said Dewi Gontha.

In addition to supporting the promotion of music festivals, proposals for collaboration related to television series production and documentaries about Indonesia were also discussed. During the meeting, Cameron Smith, Executive Producer of Java Festival Production, expressed his hope for support from the Ministry of Creative Economy regarding filming permits for a documentary program on Indonesia’s cuisine, tourism, and culture.

"I want to create a documentary program that delves deep into the history of Java Jazz over the past twenty years, with interviews with both local and global artists, what happens behind the scenes, and the rich Indonesian culture through music, cuisine, hospitality, and cultural tourism experiences. We need support in the form of location shooting permits to make this program a reality," explained Cameron Smith.

The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, under the leadership of Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya, has set a target of creating 27 million jobs, particularly for young people, over the next five years, with the goal of creating quality employment opportunities.

With the assistance of Irene Umar, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Minister of the Creative Economy Agency, Minister of Creative Economy Riefky is pushing for the 17 subsectors of the creative economy to realize the vision and mission of the Prabowo-Gibran administration, specifically Asta Cita number 3, which aims to increase quality job opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship, and develop the creative industries.

Through strengthening the ecosystem via a hexahelix approach, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is expected to become the new engine of growth for the national economy, starting from the regions.
